Privacy Policy

At Chronos (Focal Creative), we highly value your privacy. This policy explains how we handle your data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

1. What data do we collect?

Account Details: Your email address, display name, and profile picture when you authenticate via Google or Apple. This is used to manage your account and deliver your Chronos Pass.
Payment Data: Payments are securely handled by Stripe. We do not store credit card details ourselves, but we receive transaction metadata to activate your premium features.
Public Quiz Content: If you choose to publish a quiz to the public Chronos Library, the quiz data and metadata are stored in our cloud database (Supabase) to make them accessible to other users.

2. Public vs. Private Mode (Where does your data live?)

We believe you should have total control over where your creative work is stored. Chronos strictly distinguishes between two modes:

Private Mode (Stored on your device): If you use the Editor in “Private Mode” (saving your work as a .chronos file), your quiz content, questions, and uploaded media never leave your device. This data is processed entirely locally in your browser and is completely invisible to Focal Creative.
Public Mode (Stored in the Cloud): Only when you explicitly choose to publish a quiz to the public Chronos Library will your quiz content be securely uploaded to our cloud infrastructure (Supabase) so that users worldwide can find and play your game.

3. Smart Autosave & Generation History

Autosave: While you are building a quiz, the editor automatically stores a temporary working draft inside your browser. This ensures you do not lose progress if you accidentally close your browser tab. This data stays strictly on your local machine and is never used for tracking or marketing purposes.
AI Generation History: If you use our optional AI features, your generated questions are automatically saved to your personal account history (via Supabase). This is a functional history log linked to your account, ensuring that your generated trivia remains securely available across different drafts and devices for that specific round type.

4. Third-Party Infrastructure & Gameplay Connections

We only share data with essential infrastructure partners necessary to operate the application: Supabase (secure cloud data hosting) and Stripe (payment processing).

To connect the Host and the Players during a live game session, we utilize a Peer-to-Peer network via PeerJS (WebRTC). This requires a brief technical handshake where connected devices exchange IP addresses to establish a direct connection. These temporary IP addresses are purely functional and are never recorded or stored by Focal Creative.

5. Live Fact-Checking & Tempo AI (Optional)

Chronos includes an AI assistant called Tempo to help you build and refine your games.

The AI Helper is 100% Optional: You are never forced to use AI to generate questions. You can build your entire quiz manually. If you do choose to use Tempo to brainstorm or transform your text into questions, your prompts are processed securely via our infrastructure partner (Vercel AI Gateway) and its connected search networks to fetch real-time facts and format the results into ready-to-use quiz elements.
Automated Quality Review: When you choose to make a quiz Public, our system runs a brief automated quality audit via our secure infrastructure to check for factual consistency, verbal readability, and time-sensitive phrasing before it hits the public library.
No AI Training: Your inputs are processed securely in real-time and are never used by Focal Creative or our partners to train public machine learning models.

6. Your Rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, or permanently delete your personal data from our systems at any time. For any privacy-related requests or questions, you can contact us directly at chronos@focalcreative.be.
